Fivestar Space · Your Stuff ~ Our System
The kids have moved out. A big move is on the horizon. Or you've simply looked around and realized the house is full of a life you've already outgrown. The KonMari method was made for exactly this moment — not to purge, but to reset. This checklist walks you through the five things Amy does with every new client before they touch a single drawer.
We edit & eliminate.— Fivestar Space

We impose order onto chaos.
Together we eliminate stuff to just enough.

What's inside
Visualize first, touch second
KonMari doesn't start with stuff. It starts with a picture of your next chapter — what your home looks and feels like once the transition is done. Without this step, you're just moving boxes from one room to another.
Category order matters
Clothes before books. Books before papers. Papers before komono (miscellaneous). Sentimental items last — always. This order is especially important when downsizing: tackling sentimental things first is the fastest way to stall completely.
The one question that changes everything
Amy asks every client this before touching a single item. For empty nesters and people preparing for a move, it reframes the whole process — from "what do I have to get rid of?" to "what do I actually want to carry into this next chapter?"
What to do with the "maybes"
The pile you can't decide about — especially the things that belonged to your kids, your past roles, or a house you're leaving — has a name and a method. This section tells you exactly how to handle it without getting stuck.
How to set the room before you start
Most people skip this entirely. Amy does it with every client before a single item is touched — whether it's a downsize, a move prep, or a full home reset. It takes 10 minutes and changes the energy of the entire day.
"Amy is firm but flexible, excitedly calm — and has even managed to maintain a cheery disposition as we climb the mountains of excess in my house. Working with Amy has allowed me to actually believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel."— Annie, Chagrin Falls, OH
